Academic honesty video plan

Unethical issue?
Honestly I used to copy and paste information from wikepedia to do my last minute homework. Also I sometimes copied friends' work. But since becoming an IB student, I haven't done these kinds of cheating. In IB it strongly says that cheating (more mature term-plagiarism) is not permitted and if it is detected, students will get sanction for that. I didn't take an issue with cheating quite seriously in the past, but I realised how unethical plagerism is. Since becoming an IB student, I apprarently felt the big difference between IGCSE and IB from much more tasks to complete  like internal assessment or FOA. I put a lot of time and efforts to produce the best work as much as I can. And if someone steals or copies my whole hearted works and even gets good grade, then I would be really upset and can't help with anger. And in reality there are several cases that someone who copied others'work got a good score in even university, which is obviously unfair for studnets who did put a lot of time and efforst . During CAS, Mr.Gray suggested an idea to make an academic and  I thought it is such an efficient way and good opportunity to highlight the significance of academic honesty and prevent this unethical behavior in my school.

Plan for a video
For a video, I and some of my friends made a group and planned to show several things that we are not supposed to do such as copying and pasting or changing just few words from a book. The video should be serious, but also interesting as well as if it is boring, then people will not pay attention to it too much and hence not realize the importance of academic honesty. This is the plan we made:
> Enjoyable and pleasant music- music is a significant factor which influences the mood in the video. Although academic honesty is a quite serious issue, we still want to make it interesting as we don't want people to be dozing while watching our video
> First person perspective? - This is an easy way to take scenes and complicated story is not needed. Also the message is quite straight forward.
> No voice at all? - Actually no one in my group, including me, doesn't want to be involved in narrative or talking. So we decided not to put any voices, but to convey a message only with scenes and subtitles. This might be efficient, but can be ineffective.

It is not the first attempt that we make and edit a video, so we can do better than last time. However still it is a challenging  work as we still don't have good skills to make a nice and com.

Extended Essay

In CAS session, we learnt what we should do for an extended essay. It occpies 3 points including TOK out of 45 points. Since the longest essay I have written was less than 1000 words, extended essay seemed a big burden to me. I realised that I really shouldn't be realaxed about it. I have to decide what subject I am going to write about and which topic question I talk about in the essay. Also the subject should be what I am interested in; it is really hard to write about an issue that I don't have any interest in. Vaguely, I am thinking of doing on English, history(about korea) and biology. I know that I should have already made a start, but I still hesitate what to do.
Moreover, in this session, we made a short drama to represent the class what a student and supervisor should do.  We planed to show aspects of a good student and a bad student, but time was too limited to show what we disscussed. Others suggested some creative ideas, but I just agreed with what they said. Next time, I should more actively participate in group discussion.

learn how to plan

On wednesday, we practised how to plan projects, since planning is a fundamental process to make things happen possibly. We assumed that we would organise a summer fair and during this CAS session, we made a plan for it.
This is the plan I made with Ho Jun so far.

Basically we started our plans with 5w 1h.

Who? -who will organise (Y12s)
-who will participate in? : all school students
--will break them into each year group into two

When? -at the end of June (the week after exam week)
-use a whole day for it

Why? - to release stress of the exam and give an opportunity to make students a great memory
           - to enjoy the short summer in Moscow
           - to raise money for charity ( people who are dying in femine)

Where? - at school (both inside and outside)

How? - There will be at least one person who supervises a group of each year. It can be like an international day, so we make groups and each of them has a station/activity.

Possible activities (for charity)

1) water gun war

We haven't made  specific game rules, but there should be no problems with safety. We will make a small field by drawing lines on the ground and there will be refrees for a fair game and safety reasons. but we have to think about it more.

2) Water melon shooting (outside activity)
- Make a small wooden  target and hang it on the wall. 1 piece of watermelon will be 30 rubs and people who got a target will be rewarded with cool juice.

3) an unknown box

we put several things in a box covered with black cloth and people who guess correctly will be rewarded; we will give the things they guess and chocolate as rewards :)
1 trial - 20 rubs (20 seconds)

4) Throwing ballons to faces
- this activity really needs volunteers who are willing to wash their face by water ballons thrown. If we gather (hope about 5 people) volunteers, we prepare a board with a hole to put a face. the prices we think of is 1 trial for 50 rubs 3 trials for 100 rubs.

5) Summer concert
- I am playing the second guitar in a band and our band can perform on that day. ( we can perform with other people like David who can do awesome beatbox) It will be free, but some people can sell food in an art room and when they enter the concert they can enjoy the concert with food. This money will also be used for charity.

However, problems for these seem that cost of buying chocolate or ballons can possibly be more than we get money from students, so it is necessary to attract and encourage them to do these activities.
(e.g. Posters on walls)

Challenges : I have never led this kind of event and this will be an opportunity to organise things and  Also since I started CAS, I haven't done some charity work so far. There were many successful cases like selling cakes and I also

And during the session, there was one thing that we couldn't think of: uncertainty.
Bad things will possibly happen. Inspite of detailed plans, due to some of problems which can occur, this summer fair propably will not work as we plan and expect. So we should prepare for these things to prevent  big problems. Next time, when I plan, I will surely insert it into my plan.

If this will happen, I should talk to othe people who will also involve in this day and we need to decide who will be responsible for what.
